I’ve had a lot of questions lately from people asking what do I do when my upline tells me building my biz online is a waste of time.
What do you do when your leadership is so tied to traditional techniques they tell you to “stop that online nonsense.”
For example, I was PMed by a good friend in another company Jolene...
She's seen the success I'm having online and was asking me how she should deal with her upline...
Right now her upline is so entrenched in his traditional methods of building , he's openly telling her not to recruit online.
I don’t know about you...
But I’ve had leaders in the past who monitored every move I made...
They watched the stats, reviewed customer and representative volume and called or emailed me daily to make sure I was prospecting and showing the plan as defined by the company. – e.g. “duplicate my old school techniques exactly.”
Now, after dealing with this for years I finally found a set of mentors who would teach me how to build online and as Jolene has figured out it works.

You'll begin to bring in new reps and customers every month.
Let's face it the traditional methods, many uplines teach, haven’t changed much since they were established over 50 year old ago.
Plus many companies today actually threaten their high end earners if they even think about straying from the company way of building a biz.
And this is a position I can relate with...
Because in a recently chat with my former triple diamond who is also a personal friend I found out he recently had a conversation with the company owner...
And the owner actually lead him to believe he would lose his business and income if he decided to build online with a different set of mentors...
Because the company doesn't approve of "their distributors" using “non-sponsored” and “unproven” online methods…
Everyone wants to know what the “best way” to build a business is.
It’s human nature to move towards methods that are efficient and bring the fastest and highest results for the least amount of work...
Plus most distributors are on a constant hunt to find that "magic system".
Now as much as I’d like to definitely say building online is the best way in the world to build a network marketing business...
I can’t. (No, really I mean it!. I can’t.)
Because I wouldn’t be considering the single most important component of anyone’s success – YOU!
We all have different strengths, weaknesses, and abilities.
All this factors into what works best for you as individuals.
If you have an upline who built their business and had success using traditional cold market recruiting methods, (like cold calling or cold prospecting)...
Then as far as they are concerned, those methods work the best and you should use them.
Throughout their networking career, they've used methods they feel most comfortable using, most likely, to great effect because they’ve spent years mastering the skill sets that are now part of their "comfort zone."
Now if you just started your network marketing business or your an old pro who is ready to make the transition, you’re going to need to figure out which methods works best for YOU.
If prospecting friends and family, holding home meetings, mall hunting, going to hotel meetings, or prospecting strangers aint’ your thing, that’s OK!
I’ve done them all, and they work!
But quite frankly they don’t appeal to me any more...
That said, it doesn’t mean my way works better than someone else’s.
When it comes to being confronted by your upline or upsetting people in your company, quite frankly you shouldn't worry about it.
Simple it's your business, not theirs!
So my suggestion to you, if you want to build online, is to...
Let them know you prefer to approach your business using strategies more in line with your interests, strengths, and values.
If they have an issue with it, it’s THEIR problem and if that’s the case, you may want to consider joining a team and company that uses and supports the methods you wish to pursue.
After all, this is your business so make "business decisions" and don’t stay with a non-supportive upline or company because you have some cultish separation anxiety issue….
Well anyway, that’s fodder for another post - LOL.
I’ve been in this profession for almost 9 years now and I’ve built this business in many different ways…
Now, I’m a very logic oriented person, which means I constantly analyze what was really going on as I tried different methods and learned a ton from everything I tried, even when things didn’t work out.
So after years of being in this profession, I finally made up my mind I wanted to build a business in a way that reflected the age we were living in.
I also had Bachelor and Masters of Science Degrees and also had very successful Military and Corporate carriers.
It made absolutely no sense for me to be operating like a door-to-door salesman.
I needed to take advantage of my strengths and use technology as a major leverage point in my business.
But the cool thing is I didn’t even invent the best way to build online.
I learned these skills from a master mind group who have honed online systems into effective time saving strategies that are freeing people everyday.
I’m not stupid it's important to be open and learn from successful people.
What my mentors showed me was a way of building that actually turned my networking business into an actual HOME business (i.e. build while at home) by using the power of the internet.
And as a result some in our profession are now attacking me for doing it a “different” way.
It didn’t matter to me.
All that mattered is that…
Here’s essentially what you need to make this work, in the same way countless 6-figure and 7-figure earners are doing today.
The best target market for you to go after, are people who've already said YES to the home business profession.
In fact, on a daily basis when you master the skill sets...
People from across the globe voluntarily will send you their contact information, showing interest in either your businesses, your mentorship, or both.
This is possible because instead of pitching your company opportunity and links, in an already saturated market, you focus your efforts on solving THEIR problems and addressing their needs.
Never chase people or try to convince people to join your business, honestly this only makes you look needy and not attractive.
Instead, you should attract them by providing value and leadership through effective marketing.
Let me give you an example...
In the past year I’ve had on average over 688 people per month join my community, give me their information so they could receive my mentorship, buy my products, or join my network marketing team. Crazy huh?
And this can happen for you!
You'll be able to find people who don’t even know you personally.
They only know you though the value you give them on a day to day basis as taught by the mentors I can show you how to access.
People are looking for someone who'll help them get unstuck, and learn the skills needed to transform their business.
They're looking for a better way to build their biz.
The trick is to position what you offer as valuable, in a way that no one else does.
This allows you to compete in an already saturated market place and win!
You should absolutely not sit on the phone all day, cold calling people and pitching them on your opportunity.
But more important it's critical you learn how you want to build your biz traditional or online.
If you think online could be your thing...
What you'll need to learn is how to setup simple websites and automated email systems that actually do the selling for you...
So you free up your time.
And the only way you get on the phone is with someone who wants to buy something or join your team.
You set up an automatic shifting and shorting process and only talk with...
People who're sure they want to get started and maybe have a few clarifying questions.
Even then, you still need to insist on interviewing EVERYONE you plan on personally working with.
You shouldn't prospect every warm body that happens to pass by anymore (e.g. old school.)
Believe it or not, there are a lot of crazies out there.
If you want to stay with the old school traditional methods you're gona find them! LOL. 🙂
Your next step is to...
Not focus simply on just building a network marketing business, which may or may not be around in 5 years.
You should focus now on building your BRAND or YOU INC, which consists of a community, email list, and reputation you can take with you wherever you go.
Fact of the matter is, you'll most like be in multiple different network marketing opportunities before you find your final home.
The magic of developing an additional income stream is your business income is not dependent on those companies.
It's growing regardless of what company your with.
That is only possible because of the brand and reputation you develop.

Your network marketing business is a vehicle and is not your TRUE business...
YOU ARE YOUR TRUE BIZ!
Your email list becomes your online distribution channel, no matter what network marketing company you're with and brings stability and growth to YOU Inc...
It also allows you the income, stability, and time to transition to another business or opportunity if something ever happens to your current network marketing company.
One of the keys to bringing stability to your income is to accept the fact that 90% of the people you find anywhere will say “NO” to your products or opportunity.
You can create a way to offer these people something of value so they become customers of yours in other ways.
You provide solutions to their biggest problems and needs, which turns a “NO” prospects into a customer or team member...
And also allows you to develop a side 6-figures income.
Master networkers know their goal isn't just to build a company downline or home business.
It’s to build a business than can serve the needs of an entire industry or profession.
When what you’ve created can influence the direction of an industry or profession, not only can you build a downline, you can build an additional financial legacy…
You can be a FORCE other leaders want to attach themselves to.
Now, I’m not saying that what I’ve just outlined is “THE BEST” way to build for you.
Only you can make that decision.
All I can say is this is what I've done...
To create financial stability and options that give me the time freedom to actually be able to look instead of jumping to the next opportunity because I need the income.
