There are now over 2 billion people on Facebook globally. Facebook is also quickly becoming the mainstream social media platform.
So that makes Facebook your single largest social media vehicle to connect with prospects who are looking for what you have to offer.
That said there is a right way and a wrong way to use Facebook.
Most people are getting it wrong…
They think what has worked yesterday will continue to work today.
Unfortunately, as I covered last week in my Facebook live, Facebook is constantly changing their algorithms to improve or promote their products.
If you don’t stay ahead of the curve you will be left behind.
Also there is a very specific why to use Facebook marketing to grow your Network Marketing business.
So, let’s get right to it.

With over 2 billion Facebook user now online both the competition and the opportunity has increased vastly.
Let’s face it: competition on Facebook can be brutal.
In today’s environment everyone’s timeline is filled with ads and offers.
That is why it is critical to catch the eye of your audience.
And as happened with Google, there is increasing competition that drives up the prices of advertise, so you’ve got to make every cent count.
So how do you catch the eye of your audience?
Simple, you target your audience and address their, biggest pains, fears, and dissatisfactions with solutions.

If you want to produce a source of income online, you need to build an actual business.
So what do I mean by that?
Facebook’s algorithms have changed and you can’t prospect the cold market just by using an old style “opt-in” capture page anymore.
Not only that, Facebook does not like “Hypey,” gimmicky stuff anymore, they want you to be clear about your business.
Here's the truth, if you are asked what kind of business you have, and say, “I just want to make money online,” you’re in serious trouble.
What I’ve observed is that kind behavior now gets you banned from Facebook!
Facebook is watching and if they see two or three status updates on a Page and everything else is an ad (paid or free). You are at high risk of being banned because the new algorithms see this as a “get rich quick” scam.
They want to see real engagement and links to a full-fledged business site.
As Facebook is evolving in the marketplace, they are looking for real businesses to work with.
They want people who invest in their businesses, not just another “me too” affiliate slapping up captures pages that twenty other people are using.
Don’t use generic pages or ads that are used by dozens of other people. This impacts your “relevance scores” and how much Facebook will show your post.
When people see the same ads and offers over and over again, they get “banner blindness” and tend to ignore it.
If people see the same post over and over again they also have the option to click the “hidepost” button which impacts your ad’s relevance score and if you are paying for ads your costs go up.
As you can see it is vital to be clear on what type of REAL business you are building.
You are the brand not your network marketing company.
As I stated above, the days of tossing up a generic capture page with nothing more than a catchy headline or a company link are over. The days of hoping somebody will “opt-in” to your business or buy your product is not work anymore.
Facebook now looks at these posts as a form of trickery.
You want your presents and brand to become well known. Social media allows you to build a network marketing business because people actually get to know you not your network marketing company.
What you want is for your audience to see you and recognize you as a leader, somebody that’s not just another marketer hiding behind a screen, trying to sell them something they probably don’t need or want.
As examples, take a look at other successful entrepreneurs running Facebook ads, like Ray Higdon, Eric Worre, Robert Kiyosaki, John Maxwell, Brian Tracy; they’ve all created their own personal brand.
When their ads show up in your News Feed, you know exactly who they are, right?
You are not saying to yourself, “I wonder who this is? Is this just another random marketer?”
People who are having the most success are the ones who focus on building relationships with their audience.
They’re not just some random marketer making unrealistic promises like, “Do you want to make six figures using this weird, ‘little-known’ trick?”
Today these marketing tactics have short lives on Facebook.
The Ray Higdon, Eric Worre, Robert Kiyosaki, etc. of the world always get high relevance scores because you already know who they are.
And that is not by accident.
The pros take the time to build their presence so they’re not just someone that you’re being exposed to for the first time wondering…
“Is this person really a guru? Do they really know how to make money or are they just trying to sell me something?”
The way you build a relationship with your community is to provide value. Become the gold standard!
And with the new Facebook algorithms the best way to do this is through Facebook Live.
I’ve been doing Facebook lives on a regular basis now – the results…it is now my cheapest cost per lead.
You may not get the same result when you first start, I didn’t, but as you build up value with live broadcasts, your audience is MUCH more likely to opt-in which results in higher relevance scores, more leads, more sales and your ad is also being show more often by Facebook.
If you are just starting out…
Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
Embrace the fact you are going to suck at first. Looking back at some of my first lives I sucked! LOL 🙂
Here is the true – most of us do.
Plus if you have a REAL business, adding value to the community, you are not just some person they haven’t heard of before.
They place a face to your name and trust you.
Social Media branding is not a sprint it is a marathon you must be in it for the long haul.
So commit to doing Facebook Lives, even if you are terrible at them right now.
Trust me, you’ll actually get better with practice and at some point even begin having fun!
If you have any desire to build a business on Facebook, you need to establish TRUST and earn it up front, before you start a massive sales/recruiting campaign.
If you want to make money you have to be data driven when it comes to paid Facebook ads.
When I first stated advertising on Facebook I would spent $200 on ads and get no results. Honestly, I though Facebook ads didn’t work.
I was spending money on several different ads but getting no results, no leads, no sales.
What I discovered was I had no idea what the data was telling me.
With Facebook advertising, you must become data driven.
As you advertise you need to understand which of your ads are working before you can run a successful campaign.
Here is the truth you may go through $20, $30, $40, or $50 before you see ANY profit or any money made on those ads, period.
If you don’t understand what the data is saying you will make emotional decision not business decisions.
And as I found out the hard way, that’s one of the WORST things you can do when it comes to online advertising.
Ad decisions must be based on data; they need to be made scientific.
In fact, if you are not looking at the data don’t make decisions on whether to start or stop an ad.
The data will do that for you. You need to learn how to use social media for network marketing and let the data steer you in the right direction.
Track your data.
So What Do You Track?
At a minimum, you need to track:
- Cost per click
- Cost per lead
- Sales and overall profitability (once you start getting sales)
As you get results ask yourself:
- How can I lower my cost per click?
- How can I lower my cost per lead?
Then test an ad, tweak it, and test it again.
Always use your data to make “go – no go” decisions, not your emotions.
You can’t run a $20 ad, not get a sale, and say, “This didn’t work, I give up.”
You’ve got to let the data make that decision.
If you know your audience; your audience will help you write better ads.
I use to blindly post my advertisements in hundreds of random groups all the time with no results.
The real truth was the posts were nothing more than spamming an audience hoping to get results.
I didn’t understand how to communicate the real PAIN I was going through as a network marketer.
Then I found mentors who taught me how to communicate very specific pain points to the network marketing community.
Surprisingly, these were the same pains I was struggling with as a network marketer.
I quickly learned you can’t just put out an ad that says…
“Click here to grow your network marketing business.”
That doesn’t work—it’s far too vague.
The truth is too many people are trying to grab the attention of your prospect.
You need to understand your audience before you advertise to them.
What I learned was to communicate to a struggling network marketer you must first understand what pains they are going through and then offer a solution to stop the pain and create results.
It is critical to find out what pains people are going through before you start crafting your ads.
Once you understand their pain points, it will make your ads drastically more effective.
You must practice what you preach.
It also critical you get advice from mentors who have gone before you and can guide you along the proper path.
You must be able to introduce your audience to programs that have helped you get results and can help them do the same.
That’s how you build relationships.
If you have built a relationship with your audience they are going to respond more to your offer better than an audience that doesn’t know you or what you’re about.
So it’s essential to put yourself out there and start building relationships right away!
